– DDD – Daddy Daughter Day, my dad remarked
“Like designated driver,” I commented aloud before we parked
On CD duty (a dad collective), picked a track from the movie August Rush
We agreed… the songs a mix of hit-win and skip-hush
Father with a scheduled doctor’s appointment, the initial purpose of the trip
(Note: daughter likely to tag along if there is a coffee included, sip sip)
Hourglass Coffee & Kitchen (Marshall, MI), ventured by foot to wait
A salted maple latte (oat milk, ice), specialty menu fate
Mastered at coffee ventures, took photos while sitting in a cozy corner nook
Dad’s appointment-surprisingly fast, never did actually get to read my book
Strawberry matcha no longer on the menu, helped dad with an order shift
The price, higher than a CA latte (12oz), hah- both with a receipt eyes lift
Together, we walked the charming downtown sidewalks with a perfect fall feel
Full of October skeletons and spooky appeal
“Lunch?” the perfect noon thought
The driver (dad) picked the Casino with a don’t tell mom caveat
Mom would say … that’s not the place for a little girl
(Lol) The security guard in agreement, received a skeptical glance twirl
No one carded me though, took that as a win
It is like chucky cheese for adults, (hah) grin
Clueless, dad gave me a walking tour and explained it all as best as he could
(Hah) Gamble with a play-button (money), not convinced I should
For lunch we ordered glazed salmon, asparagus, and one additional side
Dad with the classic mashed potatoes while the cornbread I tried
Kind service, content with consideration for a future return
Boxed half for mom since there is no M in DDD, quick to learn
CD switch, headed home, a successful time spend
Finished the day with a little backyard basketball: P-I-G / S-A-L-M-O-N / S-P-O-O-K-Y / E-N-D (Opal: 3, Dad: 1) 😀
