I woke up early with a head to the beach mindset
Put on a swimsuit a) hot b) rain who cares if wet
Denim shorts with flower detailing, obsessed I might be
Drizzly day with lots of clouds and plenty of water to see
Paved ramp wet, a drainpipe no longer covered by sand
Hah, I was like… I never knew that was below my feet (wow- land)
By now, you know I am not very good at being still
Did at least two loops for a little extra step thrill
Through the clouds, peaked the sunlight
Lifeguards already alert, preparing for the safety of everyone in sight
Tempted to run through the giant puddle, cue impulse resist
Reverse order, matcha latte post walk, plot twist
Reborn Coffee was packed, outside and in
Waiting for my order, guy pal sighting for the grin
I did see his truck as I passed through the parking lot (not sure why that’s my chosen path, but it is… lol), truth share
Aka., I knew he was around somewhere
He was ending his visit, banter and one last goodbye
That one felt harder, I’m not gonna lie
“You da best” I said (again); to say, that is all I could think
Perhaps better for me not to talk and to just sip my drink
Hopefully he knows… he is special and I don’t say that to just anyone
Still open to playing with Legos type of fun

Will I return to California, currently unknown to me
Parted ways, watched his truck turn left on Marguerite Ave one last time
Felt gentle raindrops on my arm, return timing prime
For a minute, I avoided the reality of having a car to pack
Then, I got to work, somehow returned to the moving track
Brief lunch intermission, sandwich and sweet potato fries plated right
One last long beach walk before saying goodnight
To the cute married pair in their 70s whom I often pass on Goldenrod Street
One last pup pet, hug exchange, and brief chat sweet
Apple Olli Pop, my current favorite sip
Drank it, even though my intent was to save it for my trip
Apartment bare and thinking of it with a new owner, kind of sad
For the anticipation of change to be over, kind of glad
