08/23/26 A Walk Outside

I sat in the coffee shop for a prolonged period of time trying to decide what I wanted to do today
Did I want to drive somewhere or at home stay?
Nothing felt quite right, which was my sign to just take a long walk
I went to Balboa Island on foot, no music, cue a little self-talk
It was going to be warm… I could tell by that building forehead sweat
Despite the heat, no onset regret
I saw a fish, out of the water, jump high
He ungracefully flopped right back in, made me smile as I walked by
A white unleashed pup (owners behind) decided to walk next to me side by side
It was so cute, together we were in stride
In the water, I saw a man paddleboarding with his dog
Thought, certainly that beats a hot morning jog
In the sand, plenty of children were at play
A mother daughter duo and others getting their steps in for the day
Speedy… was my favorite boat name spy
Ate the other half of my dark chocolate banana bread (that I usually save for later or the next day), can’t deny
Walk done, cue thirst and a need to rehydrate
Well market natural spring water turned into my next sip fate
The day… not over, a few chores to complete
Overall, I would say that was a morning I’d be happy to repeat
