AMC Theater at The District (Tustin, CA)

07/26/26 Let’s go see a movie. (The Invite)

This is probably the theater I have been to the most. (note: the seats are a little worn).
If you are early to the movie, you can just meander the district :).
The blue green decor is new (to me). It did give me a reason to look up :D.
Going at night is fun because the water fountain lights up with different colors.
You can sit near the fountain, stare at the palm trees, and people watch.
Movie theaters have the most exotic carpet; honestly, I love it and wouldn’t want it to be any other way.

I could not leave California without thanking the movie theaters. I have been to quite a few theaters, but probably the Tustin District theater the most. At home, I do not have any subscriptions like Netflix or general TV access. On the days where I exhaust all of my steps and still feel a significant level of restless energy, I take myself to a movie. The movie theater helps me sit still and focus my attention on a narrative that is not my own. It is quite possibly one of the greatest forms of readily available escape.

I was going to wait until the Spiderman movie comes out at the end of the month, but at 5:00pm… I was like… man, bedtime just feels so far away. So, I went to a movie called The Invite at 7:45pm. The movie made me laugh (and cry). I felt like this movie had a lot of hidden themes or potential takeaways for reflection. Here are a few that I noted:
– An individual’s view of his/her own life narrative can be vastly different from what someone else on the outside sees.
– Sometimes, people try to show the best versions of themselves even when on the inside they are crumbling and sad.
– Sometimes, parents stay together for their kid(s) even though they are discontent.
– Sometimes, neighbors aren’t like Mister Rogers (Did I just go listen to the “Won’t you be my neighbor song”? Yes, I did).
– Humans have a need to be seen and desired.
– We can perpetuate our own misery when struggling to get passed our perceived failures.

Thank you, California theaters, for giving me a place to be when feeling alone or anxious. You’re the best! I hope that people continue to attend and support! xo
