It Gets Better…

05/24/26
Early a.m. at the beach, an unknown dog ran up to visit me
Owner remarked, “He thinks he knows you,” to justify thee proximity
A holiday weekend, to drive anywhere, I think not
In California, that means traffic, a lot!
I must have had a resting bi*** face today
Surprise shoulder tap on my walk, “It gets better” … an older woman went out of her way to say
Fast forward to the electric scooter man, “Life is good!” to me he yelled
An outward expression of gratitude, yet the tears suddenly welled
Genuinely happy (loved), I think I used to be
The hurt, through my eyes, can the strangers (& pets) see?
Even though the sun came out, love the weather
Sometimes it is hard to be one when everyone else seems to be together
“It gets better” – the ladies voice, in my head, played on repeat
“It gets better” “It gets better”- stop, rest, and take a seat.
