Gifted Quiet

Add plant in corner near window

Gifted quiet, escaped, not so
Startled, scared… not really, no
Amidst the silence, subtle sounds to hear
A neighbor’s bike whirs past my window, cycling near
“Hey boy,” a neighbor says to greet her dog
Left on, the shower fan, a hum to defeat a misty fog
The fridge lets out a grumble, a squeal
Post scan, no sound at all, real
The voice in one’s head
Questioning if others live in a similar quiet, a.m. to p.m., bed
Is it normal? Is it fine?
Lonely souls, an endless line
Some withdraw, give up on caring
Hyper-fixation on connection, wearing
Less input, more peace with intermittent mind chatter
Less output, to-do lists, emotions, and relentless idea scatter
Life, a mystery, the paths not always clear
God’s voice, in the silence, courage to let Him steer.

Goodnight Hug with Love,
Op (p.s., the pic above was generated) 😉
