Today, I visited Seesaw Coffee & Beans located in Buena Park, California and I have been thinking about seesaws ever since. On their website, they have an excerpt that reads, “At the playground, I couldn’t seesaw alone. What a joy it is to simply be here with you. Through all the ups and downs of life. Let’s seesaw together.” Cute, right?
When you are feeling up, there is likely someone nearby who is feeling down (or vice versa). I could envision myself sitting on a seesaw at the park alone- high or low. Who would join me on the other side? Who would I join?
I wrote a poem and I am going to title it… Seesaw.
There is a seesaw at the park
Landscape blurred, stark
Thrown up, a sudden high
Thrown down, a broken sigh
Life, a balancing act
Not always even, fact
Hoping for someone to help alleviate the alternating extremes
To feel the ground below thy feet, steady as it seems
Learning how to rise, to fall
Again, again, and again life’s call
Still okay, not alone
Let’s seesaw, even when we’ve grown
